Words and Lyrics

Post by Dracavis »

It has been a long time since I have come here and communed with the various souls of this site. I am glad to see many new minds looking into things which hide in the dark and becoming aware of what stands in the light.

The human mind is a very interesting machine, with the world around us being able to influence so many things we feel. How we feel things comes down to many factors; from mental cognition, societal economical, genetics, memories, and many other factors which influence our daily lives. The vibrant melancholic violin may sound like a sweet lullaby or it may sound like aggression and frustrations unleashed through a screaming chorus. Yet not all will appreciate the sounds of such an instrument and may be more inclined to feel at home with the deep primal beats of some electronic creation.

However without the ability to process sounds into music, the mind is left empty of the influences of the composers of this world. A curse but also a freedom in some regards depending on how you view the situation. Sometimes the sights and sounds of this world can invoke anxiety, discord, pain, horror, sadness and bring one into a pit of shadows. I may be foolish but I believe there are many other forces of nature which can affect someone which have not and might not be discovered anytime soon. The mind is electric after all . . .

What I spit out of my weak mind into the ether may never fall upon the right vectors or have the energy to take root.
I still keep my little flame of hope burning even when my own hand reaches to extinguish it.

So for today I have collected the first line of 25 Disney songs which some claim to be popular this year. I will post them separate from this mad opening.

25 lines from a large company which claims they make magic. . .

I can see what's happening

I can show you the world

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight

We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no!

You think I'm an ignorant savage

Tale as old as time

I'm the strong one, I'm not nervous

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba

I have often dreamed of a far off place

Come stop your crying

Someday when we are wiser

Let it go, let it go

Drawers

I've been staring at the edge of the water

Elsa?

I just made something unexpected

Let it go

The window is open, so's that door

Dos oruguitas enamoradas

I've been staring at the edge of the water

Ah ah, oh oh

Don't be upset or mad at all

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Ok, ok, I see what's happening here

They say we are what we are, but we don’t have to be

For a host of chariots were brought forth to bring order back to the lands and a new pharaoh was proclaimed by the priesthood for they saw a heretic hiding in a city made in famine. Yet this heretic may have escaped with the staff of kings, a staff which seemed to be of serpentine make. Who truly knows of the myths and histories of those long since passed?

What makes a hero, or a villain and do those roles switch when observed by different eyes? Can a being rise up and overcome nature? Can a being fight back against the forces of fate? What sacrifices must be made. . . Does one even need to sacrifice anything. I am unsure of what might be brought forth from the depths of the void but a struggle is something which grabs hold of my soul.

Patterns in life come in all forms, from the ones which resonate with one's soul to the ones which seem a bit off or unattractive. There are so many groups of people in the world looking for their pattern, looking for their call to life. Maybe I have been corrupted by my own negative thoughts that I have forgotten how to dance and the tunes I stumble along to are leading me to my own demise.

There is much beauty in the numbers nine(9)nine, seven(7)seven and three(3)three.
Something about these numbers makes me go. . .

Thank you Dracavis for an excellent idea because many song lyrics are a source of pure poetry and welcome back. Also thank you for your sequential posts there are some fascinating compositions you have found in your musical journey, particularly love the Iranian setar backed piece with the English subtitles and the Egyptian operatic window.

Try this opus by Bob Dylan. Kind Regards Redbeck

Blind Willie McTell

WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN

Seen the arrow on the doorpost
Saying, “This land is condemned
All the way from New Orleans
To new Jerusalem”

I travelled through East Texas
Where many martyrs fell
And I can tell you one thing
Nobody can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

Well, I heard that hoot owl singing
As they were taking down the tents
The stars above the barren trees
Were his only audience

Them charcoal gypsy maidens
Can strut their feathers well
And I can tell you one thing
Nobody can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

There’s a woman by the river
With some fine young handsome man
He’s dressed up like a squire
Bootlegged whiskey in his hand

Some of them died in the battle
Some of them survived as well
And I can tell you one thing
Nobody can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

Well, God is in His heaven
And we all want what’s His
But power and greed and corruptible seed
Seem to be all that there is

I’m gazing out the window
Of the St. James Hotel
And I can tell you one thing
Nobody can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

Footnote: The hero of Dylan's phenomenal song, William Samuel McTier[nan] was born near Thompson GA in 1901 (or possibly 1898 or 1903). His surname is later recorded as McTell, but this may be a simple mishearing; local dialect places the emphasis on the ‘Mac’ and the Southern accent does the rest! The family moved to Statesboro, where his mother taught Willie to play guitar, and he attended blind school in Macon, New York and Michigan, where he learned to read and write in braille, including braille music. When his mother died, Willie joined a travelling show as a ‘songster’.

Lyrics and words give meaning to the song. But In an open based discussion do you all believe that the lyrics are more crucial to the song? Or is it the music itself? Melody, symphony, rhythm, beat, etc.

Or do they play hand in hand?

I used to pay attention to lyrics more often until I started to pan my attention to what the music was doing more. I’m curious to see how some of you dissect songs in your own perspective. I’m very intrigued by the topic of music.
It’s from another dimension in the mind;)

In a sense, what gives meaning to a song? (In your own thoughts)
Then he said, "I lostmyhead" can you see it?

A song, a poem, a simple humming of a tune, patterns which our brains decipher. Just like the different shapes within a painting or the placement of burning candles in some long forgotten temple. Inspiration, meaning, purpose, and things lost in translation. What purpose do I listen to the alerting calls of crows who fly above my head or for what purpose do I ignore the calls of a bullfrog in by a dusky lake.

Sometimes we can feel one part of a pattern but fail to feel the rest, it is almost certain we are also unable to naturally sense these patterns without the instruments to do so. Our brains conduct our lives to the symphony of life whether we choose to participate in it or not.

Sometimes we move to the beat of natural forces, while other times we may choose to ignore the beat or go against it.

Are my thoughts my own or simply a dream of some unknown sleeper who moves from place to place whenever the time is right. I know I can be a fool parading in the cloak of some feigned wisdom or knowledge but I like to challenge the void which will surely consume me one day.

Eventually I will disappear but will the foolish spirit which inhabits my physical body reappear in some far off land, in some far off time, in some strange new body. Are we patterns or are we original works of art unable to be replicated?

Evolution and change are only natural even when produced by "unnatural" means.

How my heart beat drums to the steady climb of some mighty cliff, yet now my heart rests as I lie in a green meadow filled with the sweets songs it sings to me. I hold my breath as I dive deep into a mysterious frigid body of water and surface to the warm embrace of a new summer's sun. My body tenses as I walk down an unknown street but relaxes after I see a long lost friend coming my way with kindness in their step. Unknown to me I am swept up by the miracles of some higher power and rooted by the pillars of truth which I cling onto for stability when the ground beneath me begins to shake.
