I write this under relatively intense distress and certain mental permeability.
After I left the forum I went to find a new school of though to study. What I ended up learning of is not fit for discussion here.
Since then I have noticed a sharp decline in mindly quickness, and an increased paranoia. This paranoia is not entirely unfounded, as certain events have more or less deteriorated my trust in my own couth and cool.
A few days ago the decrepit misshapen silhouettes of humanlike visual distortions began to creep into the depths of my periphery. Unlike other illusory events I have experienced, this certainly has not come from within me, and yet I do not believe it to be anything other than an error of the brain, albeit an error much less than physical.
It is within my belief that this is an error on the part of my brain on a much more spiritual/psychic level. This has come with dread, confusion, disease, misfortune, unusual sounds, and overall malignancy in worldly events, and I would like it to stop.
Can someone please help me sort things out before I completely lose it? Cheers.

First off, I'm glad to hear from you again. Although, forgive me for this, but I dont quite understand what you mean. I know that you have taken on a new course of study, but what do you mean by these terrible experiences? Do you mean that they are psychological? Or paranormal?

I know what you are feeling as well as seeing. I too have seen and experienced the same things you have and I believe it stems from the same thoughts. I know I have not been on the oracle long but I can promise you I am a friend and if you still seek help I am open to talk to via private message. As we go about our daily lives, we usually assume that our direct perception of what is taking place around us accurately represents the outside world. However, a variety of incoming visual illusions demonstrate to us that this ain’t always the case. While the brain processes inbound information about an external stimulus, we inevitably come to learn, that it creates a representation of the outside world which often diverges from reality in distinctly noticeable ways.
The findings from a study concluded by lead psychology researcher Marte Otten from the University of Amsterdam suggest the following and hopefully are helpful.
The overall sense of the study is that despite our peripheral vision being less accurate and detailed than what we see in the centre of the visual field, we may not notice a qualitative difference because our visual processing system in real terms fills in some of what we "see" in the periphery.
“Our findings show that, under the right circumstances, a large part of the periphery may become a visual illusion,” Otten observes.
“This effect seems to hold for many basic visual features, indicating that this ‘filling in’ is a general, and fundamental, perceptual mechanism.”
“Perhaps our brain fills in what we see when the physical stimulus is not rich enough,” she explains. “The brain represents peripheral vision with less detail, and these representations degrade faster than central vision. Therefore, we expected that peripheral vision should be very susceptible to illusory visual experiences, for many stimuli and large parts of the visual field.”
“The most surprising is that we found a new class of visual illusions with such a wide breadth, affecting many different types of stimuli and large parts of the visual field,” Otten adds.
“We hope to use this illusion as a tool to uncover why peripheral vision seems so rich and detailed, and more generally, to understand how the brain creates our visual perceptual experiences.”
From a personal point of view, the images conjured up during drug and alcohol withdrawal were horrendous, both visual and aural.
Years earlier I had learned Transcendental Meditation initially to alleviate work related stress. At time of withdrawal I returned to it, which helped to alleviate this condition considerably. Although concentration in that state of mind is hard at first, the bottom line is it worked (dispelled the images and the constant BBC Radio World Service News playing constantly in my head).
“Transcendental Meditation is a simple technique practised 20 minutes twice a day while sitting comfortably.
It enables mind and body to access a special quality of rest. Over six million people of all ages, cultures and religions have learned TM.”
The TM technique allows your mind to easily settle inward, until you experience the most silent and peaceful level of your own awareness. It differs completely from other meditation paths as it does not involve concentrating, or trying to empty the mind or be in the present - it is completely natural”

Im going to disagree that it is a matter of optical illusion, this occurs in very well lit and detailed environments as well as dark and drab
