EVERYTHING for you is all ready planned out and your destiny has already been decided, according to an
astonishing theory which claims that time does not pass, but rather everything is ever-present.
Everything that has happened and everything that will happen is occurring right now as time is positioned
in space.
The theory, mustered up by Dr Bradford Skow, an associated professor of philosophy at the Massachusetts
Institution of Technology (MIT), states that if we were to "look down" on the universe, we would see time
and events spread out in all directions.
This would mean that time is not linear, as we have come to believe, but rather everything is ever present.
In Dr Skow's book, Objective Beginning, he writes : "When you ask people, "Tell me about the passage of
time," they usually make a metaphor "
"They say time flows like a river, or we move through time like a ship sailings through. The sea"
However, he adds that he "wouldn't want to believe in that unless I saw good arguments for it".
Instead Dr Skow believes in a "block universe"-- a theory which states that the past, present and the future
exist simultaneously.
This would mean that once events have past, they continue to exist somewhere in spacetime.
The theory, which is backed up Albert Einstein's theory of relativity, states that space and time are part of
a four dimensional structure where everything that has happened has its own co-ordinates in spacetime.
He said: "The block universe theory says you're spread out in time, something like the way you're spread
out in space, we are not allocated a single time."
Although he agrees. That "things change" as if time was passing by, Dr Skow believes that we are in a
"scattered condition" meaning that different parts of time may be dotted around the infinite universe.
