It's Sunday the 11th of November in the United Kingdom and the Armistice Day centenary 2018 ceremony has been taking place involving thousands upon thousands of people gathered around Cenotaphs across the length and breadth of the land. Peels of bells ringing out following respectful silences and wreath laying in memory of the fallen, but this year to commemorate a peace signed aboard a train outside Paris 100 years ago today.

Our families have lost members as a result of this war and the next 21 years later. World War 1 consumed 20 million lives and left a further 21 million seriously wounded and subsequently disabled physically and mentally. The total number of deaths included 9.7 million military personnel and just over 10 million civilians. The Entente Powers (also known as the Allies) [Serbia, Russia, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium and the United States] lost about 5.7 million soldiers while the Central Powers [Austria-Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire] lost about 4 million. Appalling numbers no the word is ghastly; gory not glory.

Yet the awful consequences of such insane carnage were felt long after the guns fell silent. World leaders have been attending Armistices Centenary remembrances in Europe, but we wonder who, if any among them will learn any lessons from the event, when it comes to bathing in the light of their own egos as they prepare to fight yet another war based on the most flimsy of justification.

In fact I still have one ear on the programme as I write, because the real stories it tells are in turns heroic, harrowing then become horrific and tragic.

Whats going on? Russia is supposedly steeling for a war, nuclear or otherwise. Whats their beef? Bluff, or for real?"

According to a new report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), nine nations — the United States, Russia, United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea — possess approximately 16,300 nuclear weapons. in total.

According to SIPRI Pakistan is deemed to have the fastest growing nuclear programme.

Eh, Russia isn't going to attack NATO, they're not stupid; however, they're worrying about an encroachment by NATO and the USA into their security space and might react to that as they'd react to an aggression on their own soil (or, for example, like the USA would react to Russia doing something to Canada)

The actual danger for a wide scale conflict, though, comes from India and Pakistan, which have been at each other's throats for a couple days now, have already fought each other several times in history, and have created their nuclear arsenals in the sole purpose of using it on each other.
