Animals were first mentioned in the bible with the story of 'Noah's Ark'
The animals were guided into the ark 'two by two'
The dog is mentioned in the bible 44 times but no mention of cats.
Ostriches were mentioned twice along with cattle and fowl.

The most wonderful beauty of nature with the butterfly emerging from The miracle of a spider weaving such an intricate cobweb, this ability has
baffled and amazed technologists for years.


Often we forget that we share this planet with millions of other beings,animals & plants,
For people who live in cities it's even easier to forget about the wild nature on our
doorsteps.
Animals belong to the largest and most diverse of the five kingdoms of living things,so
far over two million animal species have been identified, all animals have features and
some amazing survival techniques..

The Hairy Spider....pokes sharp bones through the skin on their toes and use their
spikes feet to keep predators away.

The Platypus...is high-tech using electro-reception to find his prey,it will swim with
it's head swinging from side to side in order to sense any changes in the electric field
to see where it's food is.

The Carpenter Ant.... When the worker ant is under attack and knows it's going to
lose the battle,it explodes ,it sucks in the walls of its abdomen so fast and with so
much force that the walls burst open spilling out toxins.

The Wood Frog... the incredible freezing frog,in winter 35-45% of the frogs body
may freeze and turn to ice , the frog pulls of the trick by storing glucose in its liver,
which gets released while he is playing dead,it works like an anti-freeze,working
to keep him alive while staying still, as the temperature drops the frog will stop moving
and breathing ,it's blood stops flowing and his heart actually stops,once when things
warm up the frog 'comes back to life' and returns to normal.

The Electric Eel .... uses two types of electricity,the first is for electro location,
location of predators,of 10v, reaching 25Hz then a higher voltage of 500v to keep predators away.

The Pistol Shrimp...has a unique claw which they use in defence ,the claw has a 'hammer' part
that moves backwards into the right angle then snaps forward hitting the other part of the claw,
this creates a powerful wave of bubbles capable of breaking glass.

The Leopard Gecko...he may be a small reptile that doesn't seem threatening but it's ability to
detach and shed its tail come in handy,this proves to be a distraction to the predators as the tail
will continue to move after self-amputation.

The Opossum....this marsupial survives by pretending not to survive ,playing dead and emitting an
odour that resembles a deceased animal is his greatest defence.

The Hippo.... living out in the hot sun everyday requires some sort of protection,hippos have the ability
to sweat out a liquid that resembles blood,not his blood but a pigment liquid that acts as a sunscreen
and a tropical antibiotic.

The Diving Bell Spider....the only known spider that lives completely under water , it forms air
pockets that it lives,breeds and eats in , the spider utilises the hair on its legs to trap air bubbles
and continuously breath under water.

The list goes on and on , there so many amazing a creatures on this planet but we are lucky
not to have animal predators affecting out lives, it seems we have unintentionally separated
our selves from the natural world and yet so much of our own survival depends on the health of the
planet and animals.
Let's remember that we share this planet and remember to take care of all our animal and plant
counterparts.

A canny topic worthy of turning into a blog I’d say Hope, evolution within the animal kingdom is the most amazing process for that higher creative force that shapes us all of us in one way or another, is no more magical than when it is evolving creatures to contend with changes in their natural environments or to take advantage of existing elements .

Fauna the Evolution of Addiction

Odd title I know, but just as humans have discovered addictive narcotic phenomena growing in the fields, forest, rivers and seas that comprise their natural habitat on perhaps the darker side of evolution, although that said many are also medicinal, the earth’s fauna population has followed a similar path to gain a high. Thus cusp- junkies roam across this precious ecology of ours we call Earth in many guises.
Good place start? - perhaps with teenage dolphins who have been filmed having a fine old time grabbing a highly toxic Puffer Fish and passing it around the gang in a similar manner to a spliff. The behavioural pattern goes as follows: After chewing the Puffa and passing it gently from one group member to the other, they then appear to enter a euphoric state with their noses at the surface apparently fascinated by their own reflections. The fact that they handle the seriously dangerous Puffa gently seems to prove that they have performed this ritual this on numerous occasions and it is a genuine case of sub-aqua substance abuse. Young dolphins behaving badly have been recorded off the coasts of Australia, Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Florida, Honduras, Mozambique, South Africa and South Carolina.
