MARKING THE 9TH OF MAY 2026
Ode to a Trapped Ship’s Captain
If I could only sail that clear Gulf sea,
Across this azure watery stretch, without fear for my equality.
I would skim across those light waves of green,
Carrying a cargo of no consequence to be seen,
With no hint of fear for that great gift, we call humanity.
Gliding through that beating watery heart of fate,
Astride a lapping salty swell, without the fear of a firm shut gate.
Yet afloat we drift between the dunes of desert sand,
aimless in our direction without a guiding tiller hand,
I dream all day of a jovial crew sailing free through an open Strait.
