The Total Eclipse tonight will darken the skies over swathes of America today..
The eclipse will set to begin over the Pacific Ocean at 8.45am PDT(4.46pm BST) before it reaches
Oregon on the west coast if the United States.
Yaquina Head Lighthouse in Newport will be the very first place to witness a partial eclipse at
9.04am PDT(5.04pm BST) before totality begins at 10.15am PDT(6.15pm BST).
The totality is the moment when the moon blocks out the sun, leaving a bright ring of light
known as ththe sun's corona.
The totality will then head eastwards over the town of Salam, where it will appear at 10.18
PDT(6.18pm BST).
