An Admiration of Music

Is admiration a genuine collective noun?.... I don't care, it should be, enriching the English language is an admirable pursuit in my eyes. An admiration of music, sits well amongst the other curios: a shrewdness of apes, a sloth of bears, a charm or chattering of goldfinches and a convocation of eagles, to name but a few, but allow me to throw in my favourite, a fling of dunlins ( which are small dull brown wader birds).

Anyway, we have a rolling admiration of poetry and fine art already in place, both of which appear to have been well subscribed over their life span thus far, so why not indeed. All genres of music are welcome. Quite an admirable topic of discussion you have brought up. They say music, truly inspired music, comes from the soul. It feeds our emotions, Heals our souls (However metaphorically you wish to take that statement), Gives us inspiration. Some of the most inspired works i can think of include the famous works of classical artists. Fantasia is a well known example of music and emotions harmoniously working together to create a majestic and a beautiful work of art in itself.

(Fun fact about Bolero. There is a record that is called oreloB that is Bolero played from the inside of the record out to the edge. Back in 2007, Italian musician and computer technician Giovanni Maria Pala claimed to have discovered musical notes encoded in Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper. Da Vinci, renowned for hidden messages in his work, and a Renaissance genius in all art forms as well as science is now believed to have left behind a solemn musical composition to accompany the mural painting in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan.

"It sounds like a requiem," Giovanni Pala said. "It's like a soundtrack that emphasises the passion of Jesus."
Painted from 1494 to 1498 The Last Supper depicts Jesus' at his last meal with the Twelve Apostles prior to his arrest and crucifixion.

Pala, a 45-year-old musician based near the southern Italian city of Lecce, began studying Leonardo's mural in 2003, after listening to a radio programme in which researchers were convinced that the artist had hidden a musical composition in the work. "As a musician,” he said, “I wanted to dig deeper."

Pala explained in a book on the subject published in Italian how he extracted components of the painting with symbolic value in Christian theology and then reinterpreted them as musical clues.

Pala discovered that if he drew the five lines of a musical stave across the painting, the loaves of bread on the table as well as the hands of Jesus and the apostles could each accurately represent a musical note. This he found fitted well with the relationship inherent to Christian symbolism between the bread, representing the body of Christ, and the hands, used to bless the food. However, the resultant notes made no sense musically until Pala had a brainwave, coming to the conclusion that the score would have to be read from right to left, in other words the direction in which Leonardo wrote.

The result is a slow 40-second "hymn to God" that Pala said sounded best on a pipe organ.

Alessandro Vezzosi, director of a Leonardo museum, confirmed the musician's theory as "plausible." Earlier research had indicated that the hands of the Apostles in the painting could represent the notes of a Gregorian chant, although the bread had not been included in the original decipher. Vezzosi also noted that while Leonardo was acknowledged more for his paintings, sculptures and visionary scientific engineering design, he was like many ultra-creative people a musician.

3-Souled Woman by Mother Cyborg.

Had this just been a fancy song, i would have given it a quick like on youtube and leave it as that. However this particular individual known as "Mother Cyborg" has a more fascinating back story that i wish to share. Mother cyborg is one of several people coming together in the Detroit area to bring free high speed internet to those who cannot afford it on their own. I myself have been attempting to gather parts and components to build my own mesh networking nodes around the city using solar powered Raspberry Pi's and with old routers by flashing them with a custom firmware. I bring attention to this because too many people world wide suffer from not having proper access to the internet due to there being no underground wires in their region, while others simply cannot afford it. (me being one of them, only able to afford internet due to getting the $5 per month Access from AT&T.) Mesh network projects are beginning to pop up all over the place (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_w ... _by_region) and if i can help the community in even this small way, it will, in the long run, make a huge difference in the way people receive internet.
