CICADA 3301

Post by hope »

Secret societies have always intrigued people around the world. And when Cicada 3391 puzzle popped up on
the Internet, people immediately started speculating the face behind these insanely difficult puzzles.

In most cases, code breakers and hackers ultimately get to the bottom of the origin of such Internet mysteries.
But that was not the case with Cicada. Nothing could point to the source. Even today, there is no clue as to the
people or organization behind these puzzles.
The Washington Post called it the "most elaborate and mysterious puzzle of the Internet age."

"Cicada 3301" is the name given to a mysterious organization who is known to have posted several puzzles on
the Internet over the years. The first puzzle on January 4, 2012, and stated that its purpose was to seek
"highly intelligent individuals"."

On January 4, 2012, a mysterious message appeared on the message boards of sites like Reddit, and 4Chan.
The message had a hidden puzzle in it and gave solvers a month to crack it.
Although the puzzle was open to everyone, it required in-depth knowledge in cryptography, linguistics, number
theory, data security, and steganography.

So, it was not everyone's cup of tea.
It was a simple message which, once decoded, led to an URL. Further decoding led to an URL that gave out a book
code and a Reddit link.

The Reddit link contained Mayan numerals, a string of letters, and two images that were labelled as "Welcome"
and "Problems". Each of these images contained further messages for the solvers and ultimately led the phone number
and a message.

Does anyone seen this or have more ideas what it means!!

The first puzzle started with the simple message above. It was just an image, and there was supposed to be a hidden message. Few people put two and two together and opened the image in text editor. To everyone's surprise, it
turned into a Caesar cipher string that contained semi- readable text. Deciphering the text ultimately led town
image URI. image URLs are locations of images in the Internet. They are of the format "http:www.google.com/image
.png."

The image URL led to a duck image with another message:

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Hi, Hope

Cicada was a cypherpunk movement that, a few years ago, broke apart. The people who won the "contest" became inactive in the group out of boredom and inaction, and the second group of recruits was never formally invited as the group was broken before they could have.

Their goal was to develop software to increase privacy online.

I hope this helps, Nazheek

Evening Hope.....Well just adding some of the chronological history that I've gleaned to the Nazheek's knowledgeable observations. Redbeck

An unconfirmed tweet sent on January 5th 2016 had apparently signalled the return of Cicada 3301, although fake 3301 puzzles have been circulated in the past.

The account tweeted a link to an image with the caption: “Liber Primus [a book of encrypted runes] is the way. Its words are the map, their meaning is the road, and their numbers are the direction.”

Many potential code-breakers are convinced that the key to solving the puzzle is deciphering the Liber Primus while others consider it a point of frustration.

That said experts believe that to solve the crypto-puzzles one would need a strong knowledge of cryptography, programming, computer networks and more, preferably literature and numerology as well to be equipped to solve the series of cryptographic puzzles.

Joel Eriksson, a computer analyst from Sweden, came across an intriguing message on an internet forum in 2012.

“We are looking for highly intelligent individuals,” it said. “To find them, we have devised a test. There is a message hidden in this image. Find it, and it will lead you on the road to finding us. We look forward to meeting the few that will make it all the way through. Good luck.”

Another image posted read: “There is a message hidden in this image.

“Find it and it will lead you on the road to finding us. We look forward to meeting the few who will make it all the way through.

“Good Luck. 3301.”

Eriksson did manage to get to the end of the puzzle set in 2012, but had to take time off work in his effort to crack the puzzle. He made it through the puzzle to the final server to find the winners had already been declared.

Is it a genuine recruitment drive, similar exercises have been conducted in Silicon Valley in the USA and by GCHQ in Britain in search of hyper-intelligent talent.

Royal Holloway University crypto-professor Kenny Paterson, interviewed by BBC Radio 4 was of the opinion that the phenomenon did not appear to be the work of either an internet troll or a PR campaigner.

“It's unlikely to be a spoof due to the lengths [Cicada 3301] have gone to. They are really sophisticated; they have all kinds of amazing, esoteric references in there to the work of [occultist] Aleister Crowley, for example, paintings by William Blake, and Maya numerals. It takes a long, long time to set up puzzles like this. It's not something you can do in y

Yes they do. Sites like that is what lit the flame to find sites like these

Some say there still active...a new brood if you will. And yes there are tons of fake cicada stuff around. I think that's why they said beware false paths, with the earn it act trying to be passed in the US right now they have taught me much. Or maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic in love with the idea of like minded individuals getting together and actually acomplishing something lol. I think the liber primus was heavily influenced by the red book by Carl Jung.

Nimh welcome to the Oracle Forum community and thank you for your posts, you sound as if you are pretty well versed on the subject of CICADA 3301. We'd like to hear more in terms of your opinions as to the valid and misleading data sources that are out there. Verifiable factuality versus mythology, if you will.

Kind Regards Redbeck

3301 is very sacred to me. It taught me to stay the path. As well as to know thy self. I think if we could truly merge the subconscious and conscious mind to one being, we would as humans open up WORLDS of possibilities. There are many online who say they are cicada but 99% are fake. Cicadianism is a technomystical order, our philosophy is neither a religion nor a science but a blend of spirituality technology, science and mysticism. We refer to it as technomysticism. A cicadian is someone who has chosen to give up the superficial and unfulfilling world around them to follow the path of the cicada, and to emerge into enlightenment. As far as I've researched that's there philosophy. I'm excited to be apart of this community and look forward to learning and many discussions ahead. The best from mine to yours Mr.Redbeck, I hope we are well met. To all on the forum a blessing. Nimh

I’m amazed. Since I got a desktop and the internet at 12, online mysteries were my shit. Cicada was the first i was of course fascinated and constantly watched videos looking for someone to explain it. I’ve never truly seen it summarized until now that’s beautiful thank you for showing me this.

It’s funny bc cicadas are indigenous to where I live. And it seems the movement has never died but purely shed it’s previous shell. I’m very willing to learn more if you’re willing to drop anymore details or where I could start reading. There was always so much misinformation you’re so correct about that

I always enjoyed how Zeus was raised by the spirits of the earth, and that upbringing being the defining factor that set him apart from his forefathers. Always felt my answers are heard more by the wind in the trees rather than most books, much easier to get a definitive answer this way. I guess I kinda dig it I mean I’m used to being apart from most people atleast I know the social distancing has a good reason, I always liked books more than my peers.
And of course something is always calling your ancestors and god have been watching all along they just want to see you succeed and help people, wake up to whatever eternity’s equivalent of an email is and get the message “your kin has reached enlightenment” or whatever. There’s times where society will turn their backs on men like us but usually when they do that I have a feeling their ancestors start to tune out.
Talking like this truly makes one seem like a madman lmao but that’s just a label and we didn’t even invent those dogmas dead people long ago invented them and I mean electroshock therapy was accepted as the norm not so long ago just ask my grandmother.
