In this life of mistakes... There are no mistakes. I believe that the post belongs to the ether.

Having dreamed a dream a window was broken.
Asleep as I was the window still shattered.
I awoke to a voice asking if I why I had done this.
My first words "I thought I heard something....
I then realized that I had walked to the window and shattered it with the clock.
A blanket of bewilderment.
So... Perhaps I invited something in.
oh Poor soul if something wanted out.
I am convinced no harm was intended or in turn given.
A broken window is after all a small price to pay for a lesson.

Excellent to hear back from you despite the disappearance of your predecessor post into the ether, your tenacity is much appreciated and so…..to Sleep Walk City.

Well this is a personal experience which was both comic and dangerous certainly in terms of potential jail time, given the environment in which it occurred. There have been other instances of strolling in the arms of Morpheus, always I would say occurring in conjunction with periods of mental stress. However, this particular incident was truly walking a dangerously thin line.

Anyway, I was on a working visit to a Persian Gulf state which was not dry if you lived there, but non-residents were not supposed to drink alcohol, at the time I was living in neighbouring country in the region where this was not a problem. However, I digress, while by family line began firmly in the Emerald Isle, being disenfranchised Celts without prejudice we had managed to import a litre of the finest Scottish national malt spirit which managed to pass through the baggage X-Ray without setting off the alarms. As you might realise a joyous achievement from our point of view.

So that evening without much in the way of entertainment on offer, well at least not what we would have considered such, generally the way of things in those parts, having resorted to table tennis we elected to watch what was limited English language programming on the fools magic lantern. We inevitably cracked open our liquid booty, which as ever in one of life’s great mysteries slipped down with ease. However, given an early start I returned to my hotel room in what was a smart establishment managed by a well known international brand and went to bed. That was when the trouble started.

An hour later, completely naked, not an entrancing thought I grant you, I had managed to sleep walk out of my room, walk along a very long corridor bordering a four-sided atrium on the fourth floor that overlooked the reception and guest lounge area and descend in a glass-sided pod style lift into the hotel lobby. I awoke to find myself surrounded by a crowd of Filipino receptionists and bell boys, good eggs all, with one hiding my nether regions from prying eyes with his cap, by some miracle there were no police on the premises which is unusual in the middle of the night in that part of the world and they escorted me back to bed.

I was told the following morning, after I had apologised and given what are grossly underpaid staff in these places a generous cash reward for extricating me so sympathetically from what was a very tricky predicament, that I was heading for the main exit and a completely slumber-oblivious trip along the seafront Corniche. Undoubtedly, a severe local police force in a staunchly Islamic state would have had me behind bars with little hesitation, unconscious exposure or not.
