I would agree with a spectrum approach ranging from brief/mild psychosis to more persistent and severe manifestations that currently get called schizophrenia.

If these are severe manifestations of an overactive mind or a gift overworking or both either way if decipherable data can’t be obtain it’s not working in anyone’s favor besides to portray an error.

I know that it is a mental process, however it doesn’t mean it can’t be used to transmit divinity, synthesia is an “abnormal” reaction of senses overlapping/overload but it is also can be used to help sense in general.

True art is turning these seeming hinderances and errors into functioning tools, that is alchemy. It’s very known people with overactive psychic abilities will find themselves more at the brink of insanity, because their bodies are capable of conceiving a sense and it’s manifold properties. You can only go blind or face the dangers of cataracts if you have eyes developed to begin with.
