Now the archon who is weak has three names. The first name is Yaltabaoth, the second is Saklas, and the third is Samael. And he is impious in his arrogance which is in him. For he said, 'I am God and there is no other God beside me,' for he is ignorant of his strength, the place from which he had come.

And when the arrogant One had seen the greatness which His mother had given Him, the firmament of the heavens, and the entire earth, and all the fish which are in the sea, and all the animals, and all the spirits which are in Hades, and the powers of all the heavens, He was seized with pride and said to his mother, "Look, I have become godlike, for there is no other god apart from me."

And he did not know from where his arrogance had come to him, (but) he thought that he was godlike. And his mother said to him, "Do not say that there is no other god except for you, for you have come from the depth of my heart, from my thought, and through you I have created every soul which exists and all the aeons of the light and the darkness. And do not take from me the power which I have given to you, and do not make use of my glory for your own honor. He had come to dwell in the darkness and yet the darkness did not receive him. And He appeared in the likeness of a great way dragon. He dwells in the highest of the heavens with the first aeon.

Now, because His authority came from His mother, it was so that her likenesses would appear in the heavens, in order that she might inspire fear in One like a leopard, she might anger feet like a bear, she might inspire lust from the mouth of a lion, she might bring sight to a blind eye.

And the twelve aeons, which came out of the great waters, are subject to the twelve angels, the twelve saviors, and the twelve saviors are subject to their mother, the woman clothed with the sun and the moon at her feet, crowned with twelve stars, which are her sons. But Yaltabaoth had a multitude of faces, more than all the other faces, so that he might put a face before all of them. And he shared his fire with them, but he did not send forth from the power of the light which he had taken from his mother, for he is ignorant darkness. And he united the powers of his seven angels which are the powers of the seven daemons. And he followed after the woman, and all the generations followed after the women in the darkness.
