I once owned such a grinning figurine, a very calming influence, for a year it stood stately and upright on a table in the corner of my sparse rented farmworker's bungalow and spurred me on into another life. Great Heavens I've found an illustration of the famous farmworker's bungalow terracotta cat to which I refer in my original wordy welcome ramble above. Made by a pottery in Italy named Spaghetti, on reflection rather more incredibly cheerful than grinning, but the very same fellow that stimulated such a momentous life shoft for me. Although I sorely missed the deer, badgers, foxes and hares snuffling free range round the walls on 'starless and bible black' nights, as Dylan Thomas put it.
