The Harvest Moon

Post by hope »

A full moon comes today, September 16th, 2016 and, for the Northern Hemisphere, this
Upcoming full moon is known as the Harvest Moon.
It's a particularly close and large Harvest Moon, which some call a 'supermoon'.
This September moon will undergo a very subtle kind of eclipse known as a
"penumbras eclipse" , visible from the world's Eastern Hemisphere.

Poem

September Moon
Goddess of the night
Her fragrance is of the red roses
Her beauty is a delight
She calls her children

adrift at sea
we hear the cry
but in our belief
mistake anchor for sail
and cast for stability
endless, in a silent sky

This is all just...Man, if Phil K Dick were alive, he'd have enough material for a million and one exegesis(es?). Still, thanks for the mystery.
Edit: a little picture I took, that I'd like to consider a mixture of art and humour. Enjoy! I know I enjoyed making it, even if by "accident"(or would that be by design of the great artist and architect?).

The sci-fi colossus Philip K. Dick was a lover of classical music and in fact wrote to it as an acoustic backdrop with Beethoven and Wagner topping his favourites list. Dick the writer wove his love for classical music into a number of his works, including VALIS.

While studying philosophy at the University of California, Berkley, Dick came to believe in a divine presence in all things, as well as God’s role as the force of the universe and unswervingly attributed the cosmos and everything in it to God. In other words, adopting a major and contradictory divergence in philosophical stance from other senior writers in the genre.

A few months before his death, Beethoven wrote, “When I consider myself in relation to the universe, what am I and what is He – whom we call the greatest – and yet – herein lies the divine in man,” a sentiment that closely mirrored Dick’s own beliefs.

The Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor "Quasi una fantasia", Op 27, No. 2 by Ludwig Van Beethoven was popularly known as the Moonlight Sonata.

Harvest Moon over St Michael's Mount, the power and the glory eh what! Spiritually majestic even.

Thank you, and salutations, Sir Redbeck. Through these tantalizing tidbits of truth and neurolinguistic telemetry relayed to me in the form of mysteries, mythology, and repeated hints about the nature of the muse, I have been urged ever onward in this, the path of light, the path of the seeker who seeks himself, though he does not know it. But to know, seems, to me, to be, to become, to bequeath personal meaning to impersonal desire, satisfied in a solid state, the curse and blessing of certainty that creates this effervescent singularity I've seen coming and yet not seen coming into myself.
I still haven't the slightest idea as to my place in this larger whole, but, I suppose I'm at least partially ok with this, now. If I were to read this in the form of a story with the blessed gift of detached hindsight, I would find it to be fascinating, riveting, a page turner the likes of which is rarely seen by the eyes of individuals, a work outside the constraints of time immemorial and her temporally perceived becalmed waters. But, to be in the story, to be on the hero's journey, is another thing altogether. For who knows what tomorrow brings, or holds? Who knows if the actions of one man are naught but a madman's dream, or a selfish man's desire to be nailed to the Cross of history as one of it's remembered? Not I, not I, nor me. But, it is not my place to know, like a piece of wood flowing down the river of time, of what purpose would knowledge of where the river leads serve the flotsam? Of what purpose would knowledge assist the wood in it's endeavor to be a part of the ebbs and flows and eddies? It is a part, that may be all, but the beauty therein lies in the observer, who gives definition to those smallest of things.

Thank you all, and, I love you, the lot of you, and I love this crazy ride, regardless of how little I know of it, or how much I wish I did, at times. Even those who exist on the alternate end of the black mirror of my self, I love them, because I can understand why they do that which they do...they are the alternate end of the current that is my self, the pushback, the eternal struggle for balance, gone awry in times as ill luminated as this. May we find balance, again, in the conduit of perceptive understanding, and may it be for the greater stability of the Good whole. The last word, as always, is Rejoice. <3(less than three!)
