Welcome to the Oracle Forum lods and thank you for your question Abraham Lincoln was trying to stress the value of direct and plain speaking coupled with honesty in politics as being the only way to garner support from the citizens of America for a policy of long term national well being.
In other words, conduct the representation of and relationship with your electorate with dignity, integrity and respect, alas an attitude often forsaken rather than adopted in today's global political arena.
Sadly this sentiment did not sit at all well with John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor and Confederate sympathiser, who assassinated then President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C on the evening of April 14, 1865.
Sadly no lessons learned, as gun crime, well beyond the boundaries of assassination, duelling and war which in themselves remain largely unforgiven, has risen up like a great black crooked vulture to become an international epidemic preying on ordinary innocent people going about their ordinary lives on the streets of ordinaty towns.
