Acoustic Levitation

Post by Koguntetsu »

The study of acoustic levitation is a fascinating subject. Making an object float and move with nothing but sound frequencies alone. The technology, if mastered would allow us to possibly even create vehicles that travel with acoustic levitation. The basic principal is that sound creates pressure waves and if these pressure waves bounce back and reflect upon themselves in just the right distance apart from eachother, tiny objects or even insects could be suspended in mid air. This is what is known as a standing wave. A standing wave seems to shift to and fro or vibrate in sections instead of how other waves travel from place to place, hence giving them their name. Standing waves are comprised of Nodes and Antinodes (or areas of minimal and maximum pressure respectively.) which are the core mechanics of acoustic levitation. Small objects that become trapped between these nodes of pressure are also effected by the forces of these pressures and maintain a stabalized levitation.

In the most conventional fashion these standing waves are created with a transducer and a reflector. However recent discoveries have shown how to create a type of "Tractor Beam" with these acoustic pressure waves. By shaping the sound in a bowl like shape, you can focus the pressure waves in a directed centeralized location without the need for a reflector as seen here.

This is fairly neat on its own and brings about the possibility of controlling these pressure waves on a whole new level of technology, like handling dangerous substances to testing chemical reactions that are too violent to be tested in containers, possible construction of vehicles? (or just having fun and pretending you're a Jedi)

This was a neat little demonstration on a small scale, which makes me think a large scale design isn't far out of the question.

And to see it better you should watch this as it gives a better visual representation of it.

I am unsure as to how valid the research in this article is, however it does go along with some of the research i have personally done. I have had the idea that acoustic levitation could very well be possible on a larger scale for some time now by directing the sound waves at a bowl-like crevice that orients the sounds into a cone to hold the object in place. The sounds would would be directed towards this bowl at roughly a 90º angle each equally spaced away from this bowl so that all the frequencies match up properly. When comparing this article to my drawing i find it has a few similarities that stick out like a sore thumb. I could be mistaken but perhaps.

(As taken from the article at http://www.keelynet.com/davidson/npap1.htm)

Levitation in Ancient Tibet:
Research into ancient religions reveals many startling levitation effects. One of the most detailed and interesting of these have been recorded by a competent witness5.
A Swede, Dr. Jarl, who studied at Oxford became friends with a fellow student from Tibet. Several years later, in 1939, he was asked by his friend to go to Tibet to treat a high Lama. His Tibetan friend had risen to high rank at his Lamasery and Dr. Jarl was privileged to learn many things which most foreigners would never hear about.
On one occasion, his friend took him to a meadow which was surrounded by high cliffs to the northwest. About 250 meters up the face of the cliff there was a hole which looked like the entrance to a cave. A rock wall was being built in front of the cave by Tibetan monks. Access to the cave could only be achieved from the top of the mountain. 250 meters from the face of the cliff, facing the cave, was a polished rock slab with a bowl shaped depression in it. A block of stone, 1.5 meters long by 1 meter wide and 1 meter high was lowered into the depression by a team of Yaks and monks.
Monks with19 musical instruments, consisting of 13 drums and 5 trumpets, were arranged in an arc of 90 degrees (see Figure 3) in front of the stone block. The instruments had the following measurements:
(1). 8 drums were 1 meter diameter X 1.5 meters deep X 3mm sheet iron and weighed 150 kg.
(2). 4 drums were 0.7 meter diameter X 1 meters deep
(3). 1 drum was 0.2 meter diameter X 0.3 meters deep
(4). All trumpets were 3.12 meters X 0.3 meters

All the drums were open on one end, mounted on poles, and aimed at the block of stone. The drums were beat by monks using a big leather club.
Behind each instrument was a row of monks. The monks started chanting and playing the musical instruments which lasted four minutes.
When the sound reached a certain level the large block of stone placed in front of them, occupying the focal point of the monks formation, majestically floated into the air and arched up to the construction site on the mountain above them where receiving monks guided the large block into place. The flight path of the huge stone took about 3 minutes.
This was not an isolated incident. The monks continued to perform this feat at the rate of 5 or 6 stones per hour. On occasion a stone was broken by the process which indicates that the sonic resonance forces are capable of destructive effects.
Calculations reveal that the volume of the large drums are similar to the stone block volume. The medium drums are one third the volume of the large drum and the small drum is a 41th of the medium drum and 125th of the large drum.
The exact volume of the large stone is not available; however, the harmonic relations of the drums implies it is about 1.5 cubic meters.
As to the trumpets, their length, 3.12 meters, is not a good indicator of its sound. Most trumpets are flared at the end so part of the trumpet is more for sound amplification than its frequency component. So, if the wave length of the trumpet is some harmonic of about 3 meters, then the trumpet produces a sound which is the second harmonic of the large drums (i.e., 3 divided by 1.5 equals 2). Thus we see that the drums and trumpets are all harmonically tuned to the size of the stone being levitated.
Another interesting aspect of this levitation demonstration is the small amount of power necessary to perform the levitation. The loudest tolerable sound pressure that a person can stand is approximately 280 dynes/cm2. From physics analysis9 this translates to about 0.000094 watts/cm2.
If we assume that each monk with his instrument produced one half this much sound energy (which is highly unlikely) and we make the further gross assumption that this is the amount of power that reaches the stone (actually sound dissipates rapidly over distance), we would have about 0.01 watts (i.e., (19 instruments + 19 X 4 monks) X 0.000094) hitting the huge stone block. This is an astoundingly small amount of energy actually hitting the 1.5 cubic meter stone to produce the effect.
To lift the stone 250 meters takes a prodigious amount of energy. Rocks such as granite and limestone have weights in the neighborhood of 150 - 175 pounds per cubic foot.
If we assume a nominal value of 160 pounds per cubic foot then the 1.5 cubic meter stones weighed around 8475 pounds (i.e., over 4 tons!!!). To lift the 8475 pounds 250 meters would require about 7 million ft-pounds of work (i.e., 8475 pounds X 250 meters / 0.30408 meters/foot = 6,968,035).
Since this was done over a 3 minute period then about 70 horsepower was produced (i.e., 7 X 106 foot-pounds / 180 seconds / 550 horsepower/foot- pound/second = 70.384).
This is equivalent to 52 kilowatts (i.e., 70.384 X 0.74570 kilowatts/horsepower = 52.5). The over unity power factor we obtain is 5,250,000 over unity (i.e., 52,500 watts/0.01 watts).
The monks were obviously tapping into a huge amount of free energy to levitate the huge stone blocks or gravity requires little power to effects its operation once the principles are understood.
Movies taken by Dr. Jarl of the levitation were confiscated by the society he worked for and classified. Analysis of the geometric measurements, taken by Dr. Jarl, of the levitation situation reveals that the distances are related to the speed of light and other earth resonance phenomena.

This brings me back to the diagram I posted on another thread.
enhanced diagram.jpg
The actual bowl like crevice would be where all the sound waves converge, the squiggly line is supposed to represent a standing wave.

This phoenomena was also documented in 1987 with NASA levitating styrofoam objects in an acoustics chamber but only released (on this youtube chanel) in 2006.

Koguntetsu welcome to Oracle Forum community, and if I have already done that welcome again, what an amazingly interesting post mon brave. I'm conscious of this phenomenon in history and I am sure the ancients were already conversant with the techniques you describe; I am particularly reminded of the biblical stories describing trumpets bringing down the walls of Jericho. Well opera singers are definitely able to break glass with vocal power, because I've seen that done, so a cacophony of trumpets of similar resonance logically gathers and applies multiples of great power.

Arab historian, Abul Hasan Ali Al-Masudi, an Arab historian has written on the subject of Ancient Egyptians who were said to use a metal rod to strike large stones, causing them to levitate. These stones would move along a fenced path lined with metal poles on both sides. It is claimed that these metal poles created vibrating frequencies in such a way that they would provide a moving runway for the stones. But the use of the 'metal rod' is interesting and modern discovery, perhaps rediscovery is the most apt, is supportive of such a technique. Expansive gongs which were certainly in situ near the pyramid sites may well have added to the frequency, Piaste the cymbal maker from Zurich, Switzerland keeps a Bronze Age formula for gongs, which they still use today.

Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics often display a metal rod called a Was Sceptre. Only the gods, pharaohs, and priests were allowed to carry this a sacred instrument. It symbolised 'power and dominion.' The bottom end closely resembles a tuning fork which may well have had some magnetic properties. The head of the sceptre is not dissimilar in appearance to a Pteranodon, the largest 'flying' reptile that ever swept over the planet. The debate is whether was it in honour of the flying gods, easily able to bear large objects aloft? This perhaps would explain why only the powerful minority were permitted to carry such a device. It may well have been used to strike up an earth resonance which somehow overcame standard gravitational forces. In truth the overall science of gravity and anti-gravity has yet to be fully understood. One thing is sure, the Ancients kept this knowledge in safely guarded hands.

My my, Redbeck. The notion completely escaped my senses, however you seem to have hit the nail on the head, or rather, hit the tuning fork on the head? Thank you again for the warm welcome.

In Egyptian Hieroglyphs there is a depiction of two tuning fork-like objects with what looks to be wires along them. This could possibly represent two large tuning forks that were indeed tied together with cord or wire so that when plucked, they could create a resonating frequency in the ground. And what is that seen right next to them? Why it is none other than statues holding the very scepters you have described. This seems to coincide with the notion of vibrating rods in the ground. For instance, if you take two tuning forks of the same frequency and strike one then move it close to the second, the second tuning fork will pick up some of this energy and begin vibrating as well. Therefore a path of these "vibrating rods" does not seem out of the question in the least.

And what of the mysterious bowl like structures found near the pyramids? Had it not been for your tuning fork theory, I would not have even noticed these. Could these have been used in the same way that was documented in Tibet? With all the collected information gathered thus far, I don't put it outside of the realm of possibilities.

As for the walls of Jericho. This is another tale that slipped past my radar. It is indeed told that trumpets were used to bring down the walls. Indeed there has been research indicating that frequencies can be used in a destructive manner, if the tests of John Hutchison are to be believed.
