Im currently looking for some way to access it, not for anything in the legal spectrum, i'm looking to potentially purchase some things, or maybe see some things i cant see on a surface level, thanks.

Accessing and knowing what to look for are two entirely different things. For instance once you do go about all the required things like getting one of the deep Web browsers, (I know of two off the top of my head, one less known of than the other) you also need to get a type of secure, private OS. (Like Tails OS, NEVER use windows. Period.) Then once you get that, you will need to look for .onion url's. I recommend searching for a deep Web spider as it is one of the better ways to find the newest url's. Some spiders are easier to navigate than others while some spiders have built in censoring features like some of the deep Web search engines while others don't. It's all hit or miss really.

Nonetheless, despite all these fine minds we are assuming that all who sail with the good ship 973-eht-namuh-973.com and the very same /forum are acquainted with the Deep Web, so perhaps a spot of expansion on the subject is worth spreading out on the kitchen table. 'Deep web,' is a noun borrowed from what was originally a search engine indexing term coined by a computer scientist named Mike Berg in 2000. In this instance, Berg was comparing what search engines physically do to dragging a net over the surface of the ocean [in other words they don't catch everything].

Search engines use programmes known as 'crawlers' to locate and index web content, basically the pages you will be able to see in search results.

Therefore the 'deep web' refers to pages which are not indexed by these crawlers, as examples: a private Instagram profile, or anything residing behind a paywall. It is possible to instruct web robots not to index your site, in this case the destination will not show up in any searches, and therefore will also be residing in the deep web.

Just to be absolutely clear, the Deep Web is not the same as the 'dark web.' By way of explanation, the dark web refers to content that exists on anonymity networks like Tor, I2P, Freenet, ZeroNet, etc., also known as 'darknets.' Although to be fair this term does not mean that the content is universally 'dark', which is another common misconception, probabably instigated by the enfored closure of the Silk Road marketplace by the FBI in 2013, which resulted in a media feast and a confusion of terminology.

Therefore essentially the Internet is divided into 3 parts

1.Surface Web

2. Deep Web

3. Dark Web

Surface Web
If you are reading this post then you are exploring the surface part of the web. The websites, web pages and information that you find using web search engine like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., means that ordinary users are restricted to only browsing the surface part of the web. Most internet dwellers will be shocked to learn that the surface web represents a paltry 4 percent of the total internet!!

Deep Web
The content that cannot be found using a household name search engine is termed as deep web. Put into simple terms, there are significant segments of the web that cannot be accessed by search engines and are only accessible if you have an address. The online cloud storage facilities such as Google Drive, Dropbox etc. for example, fundamentally cannot be accessed without a specific address or URL and any sort of authentication processes like- specific id, password etc. Confidential information owned by a national Government or a University or almost any public sector organisation is stored in the Deep web. So the statement that 96% of the overall internet is Deep Web starts to make sense.

Dark Web
Purposely undisclosed data that is not obtainable through any standard web browsers is termed as Dark Web. Whilst the Dark Web is not all bad, it is frequently adopted as a vehicle for illegal activities. The content inside the Dark Web is usually found using the Tor network. It has been identified as the murky platform used by drug traders, human traffickers, arms including nuclear weaponry traders, contains illegal Paypal account details and paedophile ring communicated images to name but a few heinous activities, although perhaps the tip of the iceberg!

However, the dark web is dangerous for other reasons; it is known as hackers' paradise. Visiting the dark web as a novice without massively powerful security software on your side can open up a dangerous conduit with you as part of the pipeline. As a final cautionary note the Dark Web might have been invented on behalf of the US Navy for the purpose of securing covert and dark ops, but in a rather ironic twist has evolved into the black market of the Internet.

Don't use android or for certainty not windows if you plan on visiting the dark net. iOS and Linux are the best for it, much to my dismay as a windows user. A throwaway phone also works well if you use VPNs up the wazoo, and reformat your disks regularly.

The first thing you need to do is find a way to connect to TOR, usually its a matter of a download. Then use a browser, again typically the TOR browser, but Firefox also has a great extension for it. If you plan on doing any searches, use DuckDuckGo.

There must be a mention of us somewhere on the deep web for us to be getting two threads about it so quickly. I'll go rooting around for it.

If i use a computer at the public library would that do me any good?

All depends on if you are able to boot-load the library computer into another OS pre-installed with one of the several choices for being able to browse the TOR network.(either with CD or USB, though if it's not set up with UEFI enabled, CD is your only option) Even then there's a good chance you'd get caught doing so which could possibly land you with some jail time. My recommendation is use your own computer, make a dual-boot hard drive, load it with a secure OS alongside your normal OS, that way whenever you get tired of playing video games, watching things on youtube, etc, you can just restart your computer and boot the secure OS and delve into the places where the clearnet fears to tread. (And for good reason, to quote RedBeck, "it's a hackers paradise")

Its also worth mentioning the use of virtual machines (emulated computers on your hard drive) is quite popular for deep net usage.
