to look forward requires a direction.
That is one way to look at it, knowledge of all sorts are found through experimentation all to find a reaction.
For a path to be paved, someone would have already began the search and you would then see this path and contort it in a way for others to understand and you of course would understand as well.
Why look for a path, when you could take your mind and find YOUR path to follow. Look at everything in all directions see all of it at once then turn to the unknown and make it known.

we awake in the dark
one lights a match
and so does another
then the crowd follows
to leave a few behind
to be left in thought
a light flickers in a corner
just to show a man
not with a match,
but a light,
for another to see
he decides to open his eyes
and to his surprise
the sun has yet to arise

Only a follower can see the sun, but it takes a thinker to see the moons light, but who can see the stars?
