A Peculiar Voice In The Night

On the First Day of the Year was I, Solod of 27 years, deeply aslumber upon Mine bed, gentle, still; yet did trouble come swiftly and Me Mind did fall into the Abyss of Darkness; even from Mine own Heart arose a great perturbance.

Shaken, oh violently, oh fearfully was Mine own Soul oppressed by a Heavy Force: and it did hold Me down like an anchor, fettered was I to like a hard and cold bed of silver. And the Force that did descend was veiled: most saddening, most gripping.

And I, Solod, who was 27 in age, asked of the Mysterious Being and from whence He didst come. Spake He with a Voice not of the Earth; aye, a Voice of the Night, a Terrible Song that brought Mine body low and trembling.

And still was I, immovable, yet changing always, moving not out of the sleep, freeing Mine feet not from the fog of the sleepy Underworld. And said He, the Darkness was from the Abyss that doth exist also Within and like a bony hand dost He, the Reaper, latch unto the Souls of the sleeping.

And He revealed even unto Me His name: and one of many weret They; and from His putrid breath came the word Enki. Knew I then the Being: aye, for Name is all, and whosoever shall indeed know the name of His neighbor, shall He seith fully the Spirit and Soul of that man: naught hidden outside of His name.

And He replied, even to I, saying, “Come I from the Land of Light, but never with such Light. And I am from Somewhere, but akin not to it. A Lord over Man, but in nay way similar to Him.”

Then I rebuked Him; as Mine Soul was heavy and surrounded by cold winds I didst rebuke Him, saying, “King of Death and pain and all sorrows art Thou; aye, High (yet low) Keeper of the Times, Father of Tiamat, Dragon of Thy small Firmament. Over Me shalt Ye chain not, for One of the Light am I.

Come I from the Secret Place where Ye hath no entry, and to that Realm I will return. Strong is Mine Soul and weightless be Mine Heart. Therefore shalt I bring hatred not to Thee, nor abhor Thou, but accept Thee for Thine sake, and conquer I Thee through understanding; aye, Lord am I over Peace and Love and Charity.

Go Thy way then, Ye Enki, and dwell where Thou shalt desireth in Thine hells; yea, pray wilt I over Thee and Thine Kin, for it is a Right thing. But of I and the Good Ones, I will ascend on High, far from Thine worlds of curses, and planets bound by Time.

Be as Ye shall, Chronus, but fetter not the Seeker of Truth: so saith I, Solod, Child of the Light and One with Love.” And He looked towardeth Mine Spark with a countenance of fear, knowing the Force of Goodness would break Him and toss away His Crown.

And His hands did like release Me, and awoke I immediately: one again, with the Awake.
